Events vs. Races
When you create an Eventrac account, the first step is to set up your Event.
Example: The London Running Festival
The Event holds all the core information, such as location, entry forms, and email communications.
Events are like a landing page or a collection of information. Once an event is created, you will not need to re-create it year over year (the Races are what occur each year within an Event)
Once your Event is created, you’ll need to set up at least one Race within it.
Most Events include multiple races, such as a 5k, 10k, and Kids Fun Run.
Races occour on a given date, so each year, you can clone a race within an event for quick setup and better year-on-year comparisons
Each Race is created separately, as they often have their own pricing, start times, and specific details.
What is a Race?
A Race can be:
Physical or Virtual – set up to suit in-person or online participation.
Single or Multi-discipline – for example, a triathlon with swim, cycle, and run components.
Individual or Team-based – you can configure team options during the Race setup.
This flexibility allows you to customise Races within your Event while keeping shared information consistent.
Evergreen URLs and SEO
Eventrac is optimised to provide evergreen URLs, which help your recurring events rank higher in search engines.
✅ Best Practice: Keep the same Event profile from year to year and update the Races within that Event.
Recommended:
Do not include the year or date in the Event name (e.g. London Running Festival 2025).
Instead, keep the Event title general (London Running Festival), and add specific dates to the Race names (e.g. 10k Run – 2025).
This ensures your Event’s URL remains consistent and gains stronger visibility over time.
