Fundraising pages are a powerful tool for participants in mass participation events, enabling them to easily collect donations from friends, family, and supporters.
As part of our software, participants can seamlessly create these personalised pages during the event signup process, making it simple to start raising funds immediately. These pages typically include the participant’s story, their fundraising goal, and a secure way to donate online. For charities, this functionality is highly beneficial as it extends their reach beyond their immediate supporter base, allowing them to tap into the networks of individual fundraisers. This not only generates valuable financial support but also raises awareness of the charity's mission to a broader audience.
eventrac provides two ways for participants to setup fundraising pages. The option is ultimately decided by the event organiser.
Via the third party platform - JustGiving
Using eventrac inbuilt fundraising module - EventGiving
JustGiving
JustGiving is a leading online fundraising platform that allows individuals to easily create personalised pages to raise money for charities and causes. It offers a secure, user-friendly way for donors to contribute while handling payment processing and delivering funds to the chosen charity. With its wide reach and trusted brand, JustGiving helps charities increase visibility and boost donations.
Many charities in the UK sector are already using JustGiving. This makes it a great choice for you to enable this integration. If the charity/charities you want to allow your participants to create fundraising pages are already on JustGiving then its a very quick setup process and there is no additional work for the charity
Suitable when:
Situations where you want to use a household name to manage fundraising pages
The charities you are working with already have a JustGiving Account
EventGiving
EventGiving is our lightweight solution that enables participants to easily create fundraising pages for any charity during the event registration process. Unlike platforms like JustGiving, EventGiving doesn’t require the charity to have an existing partnership or account with the platform. This makes it a flexible, accessible option for both participants and charities, allowing fundraisers to quickly start raising money for their chosen cause. EventGiving handles the page setup and donation process, providing a streamlined way to support charities, regardless of their existing fundraising infrastructure.
Suitable when:
You want a quick and easy way for participants to create a fundraising page without having to use a third party system
The charities you are working with do not have a JustGiving account and/or do not want to use JustGiving
Enabling Fundraising page creation
In both the case of JustGiving or EventGiving, this option is enabled on the race setup section. This means you can fine tune which races allow people to create fundraising pages and which do not.
For example, you may have a standard entry and a charity entry race. You only want those entering the charity entry to be able to create a fundraising page
Setting up with JustGiving
Navigate to the Race Setup form and scroll down to the Fundraising Options section.
Click the JustGiving button which will then show the JustGiving setup options
JustGiving Event ID - JustGiving requires each fundraising page to be linked to a JustGiving Event. This allows them to link multiple fundraising pages back to a physical event.
"Creating an event on JustGiving allowing you to programatically create pages for events you manage. Currently, these events will not show up in the JustGiving event search, this functionality will expand in the future. Please try to prevent creating duplicate events, or duplicate existing events (don't create your own London Marathon event!)"
If you know the JustGiving Event ID you can enter it in the box. If not, you can leave this blank and we will create one when the form is saved
Note: You can always change the event ID at a later date
Select the Charities your supporters can raise money for - Select one or more charities that participants can create fundraising pages for. Simply start typing the name of the charity in the box and then click on the one you want to add.
Once you have added a charity, you will have further options to customise this:Charity Name - The name as it appears to your participants
Charity Description - The description of the charity as it appears to your participants
JustGiving campaign GUID (Optional) - Charities can run campaigns on JustGiving, they may ask for the campaign GUID to be added here so that they can track multiple donations across a single campaign. For more information please contact [email protected]
Default target amount - The minimum suggested amount that a participant will need to fundraise when choosing this charity
You can add more than one charity which will allow the participant to choose which charity they create their fundraising page for
Opt participants into creating a Just Giving page, by default - By ticking this box, participants will be asked to create a fundraising page immediately after checkout. Its important to note, that they can still skip creating their page at this point if they wish
A Participant can setup a fundraising page at any point even if they skip creating it immediately after checkout
Be sure to click “Save” after making any changes
Setting up with EventGiving
Navigate to the Race Setup form and scroll down to the Fundraising Options section.
Click the EventGiving button which will then show the EventGiving setup options
Note: A pre-requisite to using EventGiving is to have added one or more charities to the system and linked them to this occasion. For more information, please follow this guide <link to the donations guide and anchor to the charity setup section>
Be sure to click “Save” after making any changes
What the participant sees
Once you have enabled either JustGiving or EventGiving on a given race, your participants can then setup a fundraising page either during or after the signup flow
In all cases, the system will capture entry fees before asking the participant to setup a JustGiving/EventGiving page, this is to ensure it does not distract from the signup flow and harm conversion rates
Setting up during the signup flow
After a participant has completed checkout, if they click the box to setup a fundraising page (which will be pre-selected if you enabled the option “Opt participants into creating a Fundraising page, by default” above) the participant will be directed to their fundraising setup page immediately after checkout.
Setting up after they have already signed up
From a booking confirmation page, a participant can click the “Setup fundraising page” button at any time to start the process of setting up their fundraising page
Note: You can include a merge tag in your emails to participants which will create a quick link to setup a fundraising page directly from a confirmation email. The merge tag to use is %fundraising_page_url%
View their fundraising page from their booking
Once a participant has setup a fundraising page, they can quickly find a link to their page and also see how much money they have raised from the booking confirmation screen.
Tracking and reporting how much money has been raised
As participants start to create fundraising pages, you will likely want to see how much money they are raising. This can easily be achieved by reporting on participants.
Identifying who has setup a fundraising page
Using the Participant Reports <link>, you can identify any participants who have setup a fundraising page by the hand symbol next to their name.
Tip: This information is also available in exports
Viewing individual amounts
When viewing a participant record, scroll down to the Fundraising section. This will show:
The Charity they are raising money for
The total amount raised
A link to their fundraising page
When the fundraising total was last updated (Note: this is only applicable to JustGiving)
