Adding Content to Your Website Menu

Customising your website navigation helps visitors find the information they need quickly.

Written by Angus Williams

Eventrac allows you to add links to dynamic pages, custom content, and external websites within your main navigation menu. You can also create expandable menu sections and add individual links to your website footer.

Available Pages

When building your menu, you can choose from a number of existing pages that automatically pull content from your Events Platform.

Calendars

Displays a list of all calendars currently enabled on your Events Platform. This includes the default calendars:

  • Sports Events

  • Events

  • Coaching Courses

It will also include any custom calendars you've created. Most organisations will have the majority of their events listed within the Sports Events calendar.

Shops

Displays a list of any shops created within the Events or Membership Platform. If no shops have been created, this section will be empty.

Categories

Displays any category pages created within the Events Platform. If no categories exist, this section will be empty.

Results

Displays results pages for any enabled calendars. These pages list all historical results that have been added to events within each calendar.

Most organisations will have the majority of their event results associated with the Sports Events calendar.

FAQs

Allows you to display FAQs from your global FAQ library on your website.

Website Content

If you have created custom pages within Website Content, these will appear here and can be added individually to your menu.

News

Displays all news content created within the News section, including the News Index Page.

While individual news articles can be added to your menu, we recommend linking to the News Index Page instead. This page automatically displays all published news articles as tiles, ordered by publication date with the most recent articles shown first.

Adding Existing Pages to Your Menu

To add any of the pages listed above:

  1. Click Add next to the page you want to include.

  2. In the pop-up window, complete the following fields:

Name

This is the label that visitors will see in your website navigation.

For top-level menu items, we recommend keeping names short and easy to understand.

Parent

Choose where the item should appear in your menu.

  • Select No parent- to add the item as a top-level menu option.

  • Select an existing menu item if you want it to appear within an expandable submenu.

  1. Click Submit to save your changes.

The new item will immediately appear in the menu preview on the right-hand side of the screen.

Tip: If you assign the wrong parent, or simply want to reorganise your menu, you can drag and drop items within the preview to update the menu structure.

Adding Custom Pages or Links

You can also create menu items that link to external pages, internal URLs, or act purely as expandable menu headings.

Add a Custom Link

To add your own link:

  1. Click the blue Custom Link button.

  2. Enter the following details:

    • Name – the text displayed in your menu.

    • URL – the destination web address.

    • Parent – select a parent item if this should appear within a submenu.

  3. Click Submit.

The item will then appear in the menu preview as configured.

Create an Expandable Menu Heading

If you want a menu item to expand and display submenu items, but not link anywhere itself, you can leave the URL field blank when creating a custom link.

For example, you could create a top-level menu item called Shop and then add multiple submenu items beneath it, such as:

  • Kit

  • Accommodation

  • Gift Cards

This creates a clean, organised navigation structure without requiring the parent menu item to open a page.

Need to Update Your Menu Later?

You can return to the Website Menu settings at any time to:

  • Rename menu items

  • Reorganise the menu using drag and drop

  • Add new pages and links

  • Remove items you no longer need

  • Update parent and submenu relationships

Changes made to your menu will be reflected on your website once saved.
