At eventrac, we’re committed to providing you with tools and services that enhance your events and improve the experience for your participants. We want to inform you about an important update to the Refund Protect service, which will take effect from October 1st, 2024.
What is Refund Protect?
Refund Protect is an optional third-party service that allows participants to protect their bookings by paying a small additional fee. This protection ensures they can claim a refund if they are unable to attend due to unexpected circumstances such as illness, injury, or other covered events with you (the organiser) having to issue the refund.
Offering this option gives participants peace of mind and may help boost ticket sales by reducing the financial risk of cancellations whilst ensuring you (the organiser) do not have to issue refunds, thus increasing your revenue potential.
What’s Changing?
Refund Protect, our trusted partner, has informed us of a pricing update. Here’s what you need to know:
New pricing: From October 1st, the cost of Refund Protect will increase from 10% to 15% of the ticket price.
Increased organiser kickback: To continue supporting your events, the kickback you receive will increase from 1% to 3% for each booking that includes Refund Protect.
Although this price adjustment will result in a higher cost for participants, comprehensive statistical analysis conducted by The Protect Group has demonstrated that it does not have a negative impact on consumers' purchasing decisions.
How This Affects Your Events
The Refund Protect service will still be optional for participants, who can choose whether or not to add this protection at checkout. As an organiser, you also have the flexibility to enable or disable this feature for your events.
If Refund Protect is already active for your events, the price adjustment and increased kickback will automatically apply starting October 1st, 2024. There’s no further action required from you unless you wish to turn off the service.
How to Manage Refund Protect
If you’d like to enable Refund Protect for your events or make any adjustments, simply follow these steps in your event settings:
Log into your eventrac dashboard.
Navigate to the event you wish to enable Refund Protect on
Click Setup > Form > Refund Protect
Toggle the Refund Protect option on or off as desired.
