This guide shows you how to use tracking links to understand where your bookings are coming from. By creating unique links for different marketing channels - such as newsletters, social media posts, or paid ads—you can see which campaigns are driving the most conversions.

Tracking links in eventrac allow you to attribute entries to specific sources, making it easier to compare the performance of various sales channels. While all tracking links are compatible with UTM parameters, these are optional and can be added if you're using tools like Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager for more detailed tracking.

We recommend creating a separate tracking link for each marketing channel to clearly identify which sources generate the most entries.

Where to locate this feature

Navigate to an event > Promote > Tracking Links

Creating a new Tracking Link

Click Build a new tracking link. Once the modal opens,

Tracking Link Options

Mandatory Fields

  • Campaign Name - A name to reflect this campaign i.e., Black Friday Promo - This will be shown on your reports

UTM compatible options - [Optional]

  • Campaign Source - This is the referrer e.g. Google, Newsletter or Twitter etc…

  • Campaign Medium - This is the method used for the marketing e.g. email, cpc or banner?

  • Campaign Term - Tracks your keywords for a paid AdWord campaign

  • Campaign Content - A snippet of text added to the end of a URL to track the metrics and performance of a specific digital marketing campaign.

You can read more about UTM properties here

Once you have filled out the relevant information, click the ‘build tracking link’ button to generate your tracking link

Using the Tracking Link

Tracking links for Landing Pages

Once a tracking link has been built, you can use it simply by copying the link and then using it on any sales channel i.e. Facebook post, email campaign, poster or whatever else you may use to advertise your event

Tracking links for Widget

By default, the URL will link people to your event landing page. If you use the widget on your website, you can simply change the domain to that of your own i.e.

Would become

https://<YOUR_DOMAIN>?tid=99&utm_campaign=test

For any support on using tracking links on your own domain, please contact our support team

Top Tip: You can use a QR code generating service like QR Code generator to turn your tracking link into a scannable code from people's camera phones.

Reporting who has used your tracking link

Once you have used a tracking link in any campaigns (such as email marketing, social media posts or even QR codes on posters), you will most likely want to see which participants have used the link and gone onto book.

You can achieve this in one of two ways.

Exporting Participants

By Exporting your participants and including the "referencing campaign header"

Viewing an individual participant

By viewing an individual participant and looking at the Referencing Campaign in the acquisition source section.
